Responsible Business Forum as a partner of the World Climate Summit – The Investment COP during this year’s COP24 Climate Summit in Katowice

The COP24 Climate Summit is a particularly anticipated event scheduled for the beginning of December. It is a key meeting from both a political and business perspective. An important item on its agenda is the World Climate Summit Investment COP, organised on 11–12 December in Katowice by World Climate Ltd., UNDP, IRENA. The Responsible Business Forum is a partner of the event.

The World Climate Summit – Investment COP accompanies this year’s Climate Summit and will take place on 11–12 December at Vienna House Easy Angelo in Katowice. This two-day meeting will complement the climate negotiations on the „United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change” (UNFCCC) and the Global Climate Action Agenda. It is intended to be a place to identify new investment opportunities aimed at combating climate change. The Responsible Business Forum, as the largest and longest operating organisation in Poland, dealing with corporate social responsibility, has become a partner of this event.

– Building a world based on the idea of sustainable development requires the involvement of business and cooperation in various fields. Environmental issues are among the most urgent global challenges. CEOs can and should be leaders of positive, environmentally- friendly solutions. Responsible Business Forum in Poland, through the involvement in the World Climate Summit Investment COP, wants to support business representatives as well as international bodies in achieving the climate conference decisions – says Dominika Bettman, President of the Board of the Responsible Business Forum in Poland.

The organisers’ aim is also to present a new initiative, i.e. the Climate Investment Platform (CIP), which will be presented during the Investment COP. It is to help countries, regions, cities, investors and companies identify new technologies and investment opportunities to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.

The event will be attended by executives of financial institutions (including banks and investment funds), presidents, decision-makers looking for business and partnership opportunities, as well as public, private investors, government leaders, negotiators, experts (e.g. in the field of new technologies and the environment).

– We also cooperate with World Climate Ltd. in order to organize the next meeting of the Responsible Leadership Council during the World Climate Summit Investment COP. We decided that the event accompanying COP24 in Katowice would be the right time to meet the leaders of our partner companies, and thus emphasize the importance of responsible leadership for contemporary challenges regarding environmental issues – says Marzena Strzelczak, general director of the Responsible Business Forum in Poland.
