Conference “Inclusive Society: Poland, Norway, Europe” is organized by Collegium Civitas (Warsaw, Poland) and NTNU Social Research (Trondheim, Norway). Academics, researchers, politicians, journalists, professionals, doctoral students, employees of non-governmental organizations are invited to participate in a two day international event. The conference will take place place from Monday 6th till Tuesday 7th October 2014 at Collegium Civitas premises in Warsaw. There is no conference fee as project „Social inclusion, Diversity and Citizenship – joint conference (Inclusive society) and research workshop” is supported by a grant from Norway through the Norway Grants and co-financed by the Polish funds.

The main aim of the conference is to discuss and disseminate the idea of an inclusive society – its definitions, meanings, theoretical approaches to exclusion and inclusion, inclusive and exclusive public policies, strategies, as well as limits of social inclusion. Practical approaches and research strategies to social inclusion and exclusion will be discussed. The conference should enable discussion and exchange of experience and knowledge on such issues as: socio-cultural diversity, deinstitutionalization, segregation and social inclusion strategies and research.

Among key-note speakers there are specialists who deal professionally with social inclusion and exclusion on macro, mezzo and micro level and who are experienced academics from Poland, Norway, Iceland and United Kingdom: prof. Jan Zielonka (St Anthony’s College, Oxford University), prof. Jan Tøssebro (NTNU Social Research), prof. Unnur Dís Skaptadóttir (University of Iceland), prof. Michał Bilewicz (Warsaw University) and prof. Aleksander Manterys (Institute of Political Studies, Polish Academy of Science). The Reviewing Committee has chosen the best paper proposals to be presented during the conference (9 paper sessions chaired by experts). General idea of social inclusion, public policies, the role of media, public space, migrations and many more issues will be discussed in an international scientific and professional environment. Moreover, doctoral students and young scientists will have a rare opportunity to participate in a research workshop held by Norwegian expert on disability research.
